Post 4 Cristóbal Ríos My favorite myth/ legend

El Recurso is a small rural location in municipality of Buin. The people of El Recurso tells a story about a hidden treasure in secret tunnels under the church. In the70's, El Recurso was a country estate, and the people of El Recurso worked there for day laborer. In 1971, the Unidad Popular wins the presidencial elections, and established a socialist economy. Many country states in Chile were expropriated. The country state of El Recurso were expropriated, and his owners built a secret tunnels under the church for hide they treasures. Then, the owners escaped of Chile. 
The secret tunnels remained hidden around ten years. Two old mens found the tunnels and the treasure, but one of them dies inside. The other men went crazy and alcoholic. 
Many persons found the entry of the tunnels, but always one of the persons that enters, gets lost and dies. The legend has that two people they enter in the tunnels, one of them dies or disappears. It is also said that has been seen a gremlins around the church of El Recurso. 
This story is my favorite legend because is an oral story and have an historical background (Unidad Popular, the dictatorships of Pinochet and the lost people). The park of El Recurso is very big, the church is terrifying, and the people of El Recurso says the tunnels exists.

He was an argentinian journalism was murderer by the argentinian secret police. I was read his book title "Operación masacre", and I discovered my passion: the journalism. I started to study journalism in 2017 at Universidad de Chile.

Post 2 Cristóbal Ríos Why did you choose this career/study programme?

When I was a child, I will be a comics illustrator,  but then I changed my idea because I could never draw houses and buildings. As well, I also wanted to be a member of cosa nostra and drug trafficker, because I admiring the movie Scarface and The Godfather. When I was sixteen years, I wanted to enter to study Philosofics or History, but very impractical careers. I decided to enter to study journalism because my uncle Pedro -he is journalism and work in Ciper Chile- tell me about his job, and my father give me Operación Masacre, a book of Rodolfo Waslh. When I read the work of Walsh, I discovered my passion, and I enter to study journalism in Universidad de Chile. My experience in the university has sometimes been good and sometimes bad. I think there are many classes that do not teach me anything, and there are others where I learn too much and I feel fulfilled. I would like to work in a media like Ciper, Pro Publica, El Faro or Interferencia.

Post 8 : A Subject you've enjoyed studying this semester

I enjoyed studyng the "data journalism" this semester. The data journalism is a metod of investigate the public organisms of the state and the Anonymal Societates. You work with excel and dinamic tables, and visualite the results, for exaple: in one data base there is information about suicides. I analyse this data base and concluding: 30% of the persons in Chile they commit suicide. In class, we have analyse data bases and how to search and find important information to write good stories.  I investigate for this class the drought in Paine and the owners of water. I analyse the data bases of DGA (Dirección General de Aguas) for create a map of the big owners of water in Paine. Also, I reading a lot of documents and studies about the capacity of the aquifer and the drought. I like this subject because I learn to seach and find important information for the public opinion, and because I learn useful tools to exercise quality journalism.
